I flew ANA from SFO to Tokyo-Narita, and then from there to
Shanghai.
Great airline.
When I checked in at SFO the attendant at the check-in
counter was ridiculously friendly and, maybe it has to do with Japan and
“honor” or something, but when he told me that the flight would be delayed by
about 20-30 minutes he apologized multiple times and assured me that we would
make up for lost time in the air and arrive early, even with the delay.
He also promised to take “very good” care of my bags and
that they would be “safe with All Nippon Airways.“ So far so good.
The flights themselves were great, smooth the whole way.
. The stewardesses were all very
friendly, most spoke Japanese, Chinese and English (at least serviceably) and
the food was great. My first meal
was teriyaki chicken over rice and some sort of broccoli and sprout concoction.
This was also served with fresh fruit, a sweet tofu thing, and a personal
mini-tub of Haagen-Daaz Ice Cream.
My other meals weren’t quite as good as that first one, but
were still good nonetheless. The
second one was a beef thing with some other stuff that I couldn’t really
identify but tasted good. And my
third meal was some breaded chicken in a dark sauce over rice, along with some
pastry thing and some edamame.
If you ever have the option to use ANA I highly recommend
them.
