Today we were given our physical in order to obtain our
Resident Visas. The process was
incredible. First you were given a
number and asked to fill out a form with your information while you waited for
your number to be called. After
you were called, a nurse input your information in to the system. She then told you to go to room
107. In room 107 you were weighed,
given a locker key, and told to remove everything above your waist, put your
belongings in a locker, and put on a robe and shoe covers. Once that was done the locker room
nurse said “108.” Straight across
the hall you go in to the next room where your blood pressure is taken and a
nurse listens to your breathing. As soon as she’s done she says “109” and you
make your way to the next room as the next person behind you walks in to get
his blood pressure checked. This
routine goes on for about 6 rooms.
X-Ray, Ultrasound, Bloodwork, EKG, eyesight, is all done in the blink of
an eye. It felt like assembly line
health care. Trying to make small talk with the nurses is almost
impossible. It is not the most
personal way to get a health check up but I’ll be damned if it isn’t the most
efficient way. The experience was
a ton of fun, easily the most entertaining doctor’s visit I have ever had.
